I noticed that the first reallycoolwebsite.net entry was posted just a bit over a year ago. (actually it was a year and 12 days ago, on May 16.) So, happy birthday to reallycoolwebsite.net. Here's to another year.

Hooray! Here is what has changed since the last ~news post.

• You can now ping people by writing e.g. @cassowary in addition to ~cassowary
• You can now link to pages by writing just their URL like https://reallycoolwebsite.net/ (I thought I had this feature enabled already!! Whoops!!)
• I added a more prominent comment button / count if you're logged in... might still tweak this in future
• fixed bug with notifications about posts with unicode in the title
• Youtube videos can now be linked with the https://youtu.be/... type links, as well as playlists and stuff will get their proper thumbnails
• You can now bookmark your own posts because I don't see why not
• Several minor cosmetic bug fixes

Minor update: now if you write someone's username in a comment like "~news", it will notify them of your comment.

I still need to implement this in actual posts, though, right now it only works in comments.

(UPDATE: Now, you can ping people from posts as well!)

They are accessible via the sort of tilted rectangle icon in the upper right corner. When you have an unread notification the rectangle turns into an envelope. Well, I thought it was clever... :p

For a while there was a strange bug that would periodically log people out and prevent them from logging back in until the server process was restarted. I believe I've fixed this issue now, so hopefully you should no longer be forbidden from logging in randomly!
