For this photo series I would be photographing the landscapes held within Biosphere 2, self sustaining ecosystem in Oracle, AZ. Biosphere 2 was created in the 90's as an experiment to create a fully sealed self sustaining ecosystem that could possibly aid in space exploration later on down the road. Although the experiment was not completely successful, the architecture of the building mixed the many different biological systems that are present within would create an extremely good photo series. The subjects of the photos would be a mix of the futuristic looking building, the engineering spaces, the plants and animals, and everything else the confines has to offer. I think a wide frame of view would allow the viewer to fully engage with the space and make them feel as if they were actually there. Because of the wide variety of different landscapes and colors I think it would be cool to put them only display. The thing connecting all the photos is the futuristic and space looking architecture, so by making sure that aspect is present doing color should be no issue.
I want this series to convey the idea of the future, while still allowing the viewer to be present in the now. Allow the science and concepts driving the project of Biosphere 2 to shine through while giving the viewer access to their senses through the photo. For example taking images of the the different trees, flowers, fruits/vegetables or other things present such as the rocks or bodies of water. I will portray the idea of space exploration/future thinking by embedding the buildings architecture into each photo. I also think that some differing angles at which I take the pictures may also add some cool effect to the photos.
