For the following project, I hoped to create a concept of a halt in life by using the visual metaphor of staircases. With how relative stairs are as a means to climb upward, I believed they’d help pronounce a journey across life. By having the camera angled to gaze downward, I hoped this would decontextualize those motifs of passing travel by putting a focal point on the past steps themselves, which would be seen as your first climb to get anywhere. Immediately establishing a metaphor of reminiscing said past while simultaneously showcasing nothing above, as if there is no way to see said future steps to get to any destination. Which envisions an unsure future and a pause in the present.
