1. This series of photographs show me studying medicine, chemistry, biology, and physiology, overlayed by things that symbolize a career in art such as a canvas, an easel, and art books. The things that associate with an art education are projected over and beside the symbols for a science education. I stand in motion of writing, reading, and studying while being distracted by the projections reminding me the possibility of pursuing art at that moment instead.
2. I don’t understand why I draw, but I’m irrecoverably pushed to draw and to paint. To become dependent on my art for income, however, seems daunting to me. Hearing about all the lay-offs from the jobs I so desperately want to pursue only discourage me further, wanting to aim for a career more stable than what my soul tells me I should pursue. I love art, but that doesn’t mean I mind studying for something I believe in rather than something I indulge in if it means I have a better chance at survival.
